Hello Bear Valley families,
The internet and social media allows anyone to create accounts that falsely appear to be linked to a school or business and Bear Valley is no different. We appreciate you and your students reporting these accounts to us and take every step we can to identify the people creating the accounts. However the companies that run these platforms do not allow us to block or remove them. You can support us in two ways.
First, report and block these accounts on your phone and your child's phone.
Second, check and monitor your child's device for multiple profiles that you might not be aware of.
We appreciate your support in managing your child's access to social media.
Tips for Checking Your Child's Device:
Open Instagram or TikTok and tap the profile icon in the bottom right.
Tap the username at the top of the screen to open the account switcher dropdown, which reveals all logged-in accounts on that device
Check Screen Time (iPhone) or Digital Wellbeing (Android) app usage data to see if total time on Instagram or TikTok exceeds what their main account shows.
Your partnership in checking for these anonymous accounts helps us keep your student safe in and out of school and reduces bullying and peer conflict.
