8th Grade January Admin Conferences & Continuation Week Update

Dear 8^th Grade Families,

During the week of January 22nd, 2024 all 8th grade students will have a scheduled required conference with a member of Bear Valley administration. The second half of 8th grade is a critical time for students to demonstrate their preparedness for high school. During their conference, they will reflect on their current progress, areas of growth and set goals for the remainder of the school year. This conference will be directly tied to the continuation outlined below. Please know we have put supportive measures in place to ensure it is possible for all students to be eligible for continuation week activities.

After their conference, students will be sent home with a copy of their conference document for you to review. If their conference document is signed and returned to their LC mentor by Monday January 29th, they will receive a free dress bracelet for Tuesday January 30th.  If you have any questions about their conference, please reach out to their LC mentor or the member of administration who facilitated their conference. 

In addition, 8th grade families will be receiving important communication in the coming weeks about how students can “unofficially” earn back attendance points, Saturday school dates and spring family conferences. These are all important to ensure your scholar can be eligible for continuation week activities in May! We are so #YETIexcited to celebrate your student’s accomplishments in middle school here at BVIS. As we get closer to continuation week, more details and permission slips will be distributed to scholars.

In order to be eligible for continuation week activities, scholars will need to:

1. Maintain an overall attendance percentage of 92% or higher
2. Have all their 6th-8th grade iCAP questions completed
3. Have no Ds or F’s 
4. Have no major or repeated behavior incidents
