As the district announced last week, all DPS schools, including Bear Valley, will be taking CMAS assessments this year.
The state requires that we give this test in order to measure students progress each year. At Bear Valley, 6th & 7th graders take math and literacy, and 8th graders take math, literacy, and science assessments. There will not be a remote testing option for our virtual/at home scholars, so all students participating must come into the school to take the test. Our testing schedule will run from April 12 through April 22, 2021. (See a more detailed schedule below.)
We understand that some families may not want their students to participate, including those who have selected remote learning and do not want their child to participate in in-person testing. If you choose to opt your student out of testing, you must fill out the opt-out form. This form is located in the Parent Portal under the “See All Apps” tab. Simply click on the link for Complete Assessment Opt-Out Form. See here for directions in all consent decree languages. Please complete this form no later than March 12th.
If your student is a virtual scholar participating in the remote learning option and you do wish to have your child participate in CMAS testing, please contact our front office at 720-423-9600. For planning purposes, we appreciate you responding as soon as possible. The final day to sign-up to come in for testing will be March 12th. Please note that district transportation is not available for virtual program students who wish to participate in testing.
In-person Student testing Dates & times: 6th and 7th will test from April 13th thru April 15th from 8:30am-1:15pm. 8th graders will test from April 12th thru April 16th.
Remote Student testing Dates & times (Students will come into the building):
6th and 7th grade will test from April 19 thru April 21st from 8:30am-1:15pm.
8th graders will test from April 19 thru April 21st from 8:30am-3:00pm.
