Remote learning & snow day?

Posted March 12, 2021

As previously communicated this upcoming Monday 3/15 and Tuesday 3/16 will be asynchronous days at home for all scholars to support appointments for vaccination booster for our staff.

This means that in-person learners will stay home and all learning will be independent as there will be no Google Meets either day.

On Wednesday DPS published a revised snow day policy, click here to review in full.  With the significant snow in the forecast this weekend we are preparing for the possibility that Monday will be a snow day.  If DPS calls a snow day for Monday, scholars will not be expected to log into schoology and will receive updates from their teachers for the revised lessons for Tuesday.

To recap DPS updated snow policy :

  • For severe weather that is limited in duration, we will do a traditional snow day, with no in-person or remote learning.
  • If there is an extended stretch of severe weather during the week and we are not able to safely allow students to attend in-person school for multiple days, then — starting with the second day — we will pivot to remote learning.

To support in planning and this shift, any time we are considering a potential snow day, we will send messaging to schools by mid-day the day before to remind students and teachers to prepare
