Hello Bear Valley Families~
We wanted to alert you to an upcoming calendar change that will result in a 4-day weekend for scholars with no school Friday 3/10 through Monday 3/13, returning to school on Tuesday 3/14.
Being an Innovation school provides a pathway for us to obtain greater individual school autonomy and managerial flexibility in order to implement diverse approaches to learning. This is ultimately for the final benefit of your student as we are able to adjust curriculum to best fit their learning needs. Bear Valley is due for a renewal process (occurs every 3 years) to continue our Innovation status that we have maintained since we opened our doors in our inaugural 16-17 school year.
In order to ensure our Innovation plan is ready to submit to the DPS School Board we set aside additional time (Monday 3/13) to holistically review as a full staff to ensure we have it right before it goes for the final approval process. We will also be preparing for CMAS testing that will occur 4/17-4/21 on this professional development day.
Friday 3/10 has been a dedicated professional development no-school day on our calendar to support teacher instructions and culture building.
