8th grade packets!

Posted April 17, 2025

Hello Families of our 8th graders,

First, please be sure to tell your child how proud we all are for their grit and commitment this past week with CMAS testing.  They worked so hard and definitely deserve this upcoming 3-day weekend!

Second, please take some time to talk to them this weekend about their Continuation eligibility status.  We will be sending communication to the families of our students who are off-track next week so we want to ensure their standing is not a surprise.

Finally, today before dismissal we will be handing them out some VERY IMPORTANT packets that we want to ensure make it home safe.

Contents include:

1 – An envelope with their Lifetouch continuation proof photo and/or the package you ordered.

  • If you would like to order prints, there are ordering directions on the proof sheet.
  • They will receive a FREE 8*10 on their Continuation certificate
  • If they don’t have an envelope it is because they were missing on photo day

2- Their FREE dress bracelet for Monday 4/21!

  • If they lose it they are expected to be in dress code on Monday.

3- Next Friday 4/25, JFK invited us to their campus for an afternoon visit.  Even if your child won’t attend JFK next year, it will still be a fun time to get off campus and start experiencing what high school will feel like next year.

  • In the packet is a JFK course of studies pre-work that will help ensure they get the classes they want when we go next Friday for the visit.
    • Below is a copy of the handout
    • If they want to bring the completed packet back to the main office I will keep them safe until we go on Friday.
  • Here are the field trip details
    • 12:35pm – start walking
    • 12:50-1:00pm – BVIS arrives!
    • 1:00-2:00pm – JFK counselors present to students and collect course requests
    • 2:00-2:20pm – JFK coaches and club sponsors will be presenting any summer opportunities for students to join to get involved before the year begins (including 9th grade academy)
    • 2:20 – 2:50pm – Students experience the pep rally and get cheered on as incoming freshmen
    • 2:50pm – BVIS departs to return to school.

As always, please feel free to call me with any further questions or concerns.
